Micro Smart Lockdown Imposed in Areas of Karachi’s District Central

The authorities in Karachi have imposed a micro smart lockdown in hotspot areas of District Central.

The areas under smart lockdown nine union councils (UCs) of North Karachi, North Nazimabad, and Gulberg.

An official notification in this regard issued by Deputy Commissioner District Central says that the lockdown comes into effect on March 17, 2021, and will stay in place for 14 days, i.e. until March 31, 2021.

“In pursuance of the recommendations of the district health officer regarding the emerging hotspots with respect to the spread of COVID-19 and powers conferred in Section 3(3) of the Sindh Epidemic diseases Act 2014, it is hereby ordered that a micro smart lockdown is to be enforced in the specified areas for a period of two weeks,” stated in the notification.

“All business and industrial activities in the area will remain suspended,” the notification said.

“Family gatherings will also be prohibited,” it added.

Furthermore, all people entering and exiting the marked areas will have to wear a face mask at all times, the notification stated. 

As per the lockdown directives people will not be allowed to move around unnecessarily during the lockdown period.

“All people who have tested positive for COVID-19 will have to quarantine at home, while the provincial government will take steps to ensure the supply of rations to deserving people,” it added.

Meanwhile, the province of Sindh on Wednesday has reported 384 new cases of the novel coronavirus and one death.

The cases have raised the provincial tally to 262,206 infections.

Keep in mind recently Lahore got a smart lockdown in 12 areas

While the provincial death toll now stands at 4,469 in the province.

According to the daily situation report issued by the Chief Minister’s office 10,590 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
