Malala Yousafzai Comes Forward in Support of Kashmir

Almost two months after India has implemented a curfew in Kashmir resulting as a complete communication blackout and violation of human rights, Nobel peace prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has come forward to speak out in support of Kashmiri citizens.

Finally, in a series of tweets Nobel laureate has shared her grave concern for the Indian Occupied Kashmir:

Taking it to her Twitter, Malala shared horrific accounts of Indian brutality that Kashmiris and especially Kashmiri girls have shared with the Nobel laureate.

“Here is what three girls told me, in their own words: “The best way to describe the situation in Kashmir right now is absolute silence. We have no way of finding out what’s happening to us. All we could hear is the steps of troops outside our windows. It was really scary,” wrote Malala.

“I feel purposeless and depressed because I can’t go to school. I missed my exams on August 12 and I feel my future is insecure now. I want to be a writer and grow to be an independent, successful Kashmiri woman. But it seems to be getting more difficult as this continues,” she penned down another account.

“People speaking out for us adds to our hope. I am longing for the day when Kashmir will be free of the misery we’ve been going through for decades,” Malala spoke of another girl.

The speaker and writer stated that she wanted to directly speak to Kashmiri girls to have a better understanding of their issues, however, it proved to be quite difficult due to the communication blackout India has imposed in the region.

“I am deeply concerned about reports of 4,000 people, including children, arbitrarily arrested & jailed, about students who haven’t been able to attend school for more than 40 days, about girls who are afraid to leave their homes,” she said in her series of Tweets.

Malala then urged authorities especially United Nations General Assembly to intervene in the matter and put an end to Indian atrocities.

“I am asking leaders, at #UNGA and beyond, to work towards peace in Kashmir, listen to Kashmiri voices and help children go safely back to school,” tweeted the youngest Nobel winner.

 

People came out bashing Malala earlier over her iPhone tweet, alleging her of sharing a planned tweet for the promotion of latest Apple iPhone.
