Nawaz Sharif will not be arrested from Lahore airport, Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Saturday.
Former information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday gave more details of PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif’s plans upon touching down in Lahore on October 21.
PML-N spokesperson said that Nawaz Sharif will head to his Jati Umra residence after addressing a rally at Minar-i-Pakistan, Lahore on October 21.
She maintained that Nawaz Sharif would not be arrested at the airport.
Marriyum said that Nawaz would set straight the country’s economic agenda and vision in his Minar-i-Pakistan speech.
“Nawaz Sharif is the only way to stabilize and develop the country and only he can help lift the country’s economy on its own feet,” she said.
Talking about the 16-month tenure of former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, Marriyum Aurangzeb claimed he did not make any wrong decisions during his time in power.
“He is the only leader who saved the country from default,” Marriyum said, adding, “If he had not done any economic planning, the country would have turned into a Sri Lanka.”
Last month, Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that Nawaz would return to the country on Oct 21.
“The program is final for October 21 and Mian Nawaz Sharif is returning to Pakistan,” the former PM said in a brief media interaction outside Stanhope House after meeting his elder brother Shehbaz Sharif on Sep 12.
“I appeal to PML-N representatives to pause international travel till October 21 and prepare for a resounding welcome… There are many who wish to meet their ‘Quaid’ in London, but now they should plan to meet him in Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah said that Nawaz would return to the country with protective bail and “surrender to the court after his (welcome) reception” in Lahore.
