Pakistanis celebrate Eid ul Fitr 2023 under clouds of economic distress

Pakistanis on Saturday are celebrating the first day of Eid ul Fitr under clouds of economic distress!

The day started with the Eid prayer shortly after the Fajr prayer marking an end to a month’s fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Special sermons and large gatherings were held across the country where people were seen sporting their favourite outfits on the auspicious occasion.

However, this year the masses took a back seat as their purchasing power plunged due to economic distress.


The main Eid congregation in the federal capital was held at Faisal Mosque where top government officials, envoys of Muslim countries and citizens offered Eid prayers.

President Dr Arif Alvi offered Eid ul Fitr prayer at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the country

 

President Dr Arif Alvi in his message to the nation on the special occasion of Eid urged the countrymen to not allow their sectarian, religious and political differences to become a source of strife and hatred.

President Alvi said in order to get out of the current situation facing the country, the people needed to adopt the practice of forgiving and follow the teachings of Allah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

He congratulated the entire Pakistani nation and the Islamic world on Eid ul Fitr and said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) also exhorted us to show mercy and forgive others to seek the mercy and forgiveness of Allah.

The president also asked the citizens to play their role in moving the country towards political and economic stability.
