Petrol Dealers announce Nationwide Strike
Petrol dealers announced a nationwide closure of pumps from July 22!
The strike may result in a shortage of petrol across the country.
The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) on Thursday announced the nationwide closure of petrol stations for an indefinite period starting from July 22.
PPDA announced the strike as a result of their dissatisfaction with the lack of an increase in dealers’ margins.
PPDA has demanded an increase in dealers’ commission by 5%.
According to the PPDA Chairman, Abdul Sami Khan, the association is facing massive losses due to the sale of petrol and diesel that is smuggled from Iran.
Abdul Sami Khan while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club said that due to the prolonged strike, petrol pumps will only be operational for two days during the month of Muharram, specifically on the 9th and 10th.
According to the PPDA, a letter was sent to the Minister of Petroleum, Musadik Malik, to bring these matters to his attention, but he never responded to the association.
