Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a ceremony in Sukkur vowed that he will not compromise on the quality of the work.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony, PM Shehbaz also warned that he will make surprise visits to the site to see the speed and quality of the work.
“Consider it my bad or good habit I make surprise visits for projects. Will take [Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali] Shah to oversee the quality,” PM Shehbaz said.
The 306km Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway is the last part of the Peshawar-Karachi motorway. With its completion, all major cities of Pakistan will be connected via motorways.
The M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project will be completed over a period of 30 months under the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA).
This project will cost more than Rs307 billion, according to a National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesperson.
M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway will include the construction of 15 interchanges, a major bridge over the Indus River, 19 underpasses and 6 flyovers.
Additionally, 10 service areas will be constructed on both sides of the motorway at a distance of 50km.
M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway will pass through the districts of Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Matiari, Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Khairpur and Sukkur.
