President Arif Alvi expresses deep concerns over burning of mosques in India

Amidst the violence in India which escalated on Monday after US President Donald Trump started his two-day trip to India, President Arif Alvi condemned the burning of mosque in New Delhi after the violent clashes over Citizenship amendment law on Tuesday.

According to the details, the death toll in India following violence has reached 20 and over 200 people were reported injured.

A video is also circulating on social media showing BJP extremists ripping off a mosque’s loudspeaker from its top and placing a Hanuman and Indian flag instead.

The mob can be heard shouting “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindoun ka Hindustan” while marching around the mosque as it burned. It has been reported that copies of the Holy Quran were also burnt during the attack.

According to AFP, that people were seen cleaning out the blackened and trashed interior of the mosque on Wednesdsay.

On late Tuesday night, President Arif Alvi showing his concern over the recent unrest in India, he tweeted, “Another update of the disgraceful act. Vandalising a mosque! It seems to be a reminder to Muslims of the Babri Masjid episode. I think secular forces within India should rise against such barbaric actions”.
