President Dr Arif Alvi was presented with a farewell guard of honour on Friday, a day ahead of the presidential election.
The ceremony marks the culmination of Dr Arif Aliv’s term as the 13th head of state.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the armed forces presented a guard of honour to the outgoing president at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.
The national anthem was played as the president stood at the saluting dais.
After receiving the guard of honour, Dr. Arif Alvi also shook hands with the officers and staffers of the President’s House.
Alvi was sworn in as the 13 President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on September 9, 2018.
Though his term ended last year, due to the absence of the electoral college for the election of president, Dr Alvi continued to serve in the presidency.
