Sara Inam Murder Case: Court sentences Shahnawaz Amir to death

An Islamabad trial court sentenced Shahnawaz Amir to death for the murder of his wife Sarah Inam on Thursday.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 million on Shahnawaz, which would be paid to Sara Inam’s bereaved family.

Sessions Judge Nasir Javaid Rana announced the verdict on Thursday, which was reserved on December 9.

The court acquitted Shahnawaz Amir’s mother, Samina Shah, who was co-accused in the case.

Shahnawaz Amir was arrested on Sept 23 last year at a farmhouse in Islamabad’s Shahzad Town for the brutal murder of his wife Sara, a Canadian citizen, which sent shockwaves throughout the entire country.

Sara Inam’s parents and Shaukhat Mukaddam, father of another victim of gender-based violence Noor Mukadam, were also present in the packed courtroom today.
