The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday adjourned the Punjab elections case until April 27.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar, directed the embattled ruling and the opposition political parties to immediately thrash out a consensus on the date of elections and update the bench by 4 pm.
As reported, Justice Muneeb Akhtar left for Karachi after today’s hearing.
Meanwhile, Attorney General and Farooq H Naik held a meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial in his chamber.
During the hearing, the CJP had ordered political representatives to inform the court after holding a discussion with their leaders regarding the matter.
CJP ordered the party leaders to sit together today, not after Eid, expecting PDM chairman Maulana Fazalur Rehman will also show flexibility.
