Security forces have cleared the Karachi police office after nearly a four-hour operation on Friday evening.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility for the attack on the Karachi police office situated on the main artery of Shahrah–e–Faisal in a message sent by its spokesman.
At least three militants blew themselves, while two were gunned down in the shootout, officials confirmed.
The attack on the Police’s office began at 7:10 pm. The police and Rangers personnel cleared the five-storey building phase-wise, finally sweeping the entire office by around 10:46 pm.
Multiple explosions were heard during the attack.
A counter-terrorism operation featuring personnel from Pakistan Army, Rangers and Sindh Police launched a response operation.
