Social media hails man in Norway as ‘Defender of Quran’,who interrupted anti-Islam rally from burning holy book

Social media on Friday has been in all praises for the bravery of a “Muslim Hero” who interrupted an anti-Islam rally in Norway from burning a copy of the Holy Quran.

According to the details, the incident took place on November 16  during an anti-Islam rally in Norway after a leader of extreme right-wing, Lars Thorsen, tried to desecrate a copy of the holy book in Kristiansand.

The video circulating on social media is the highlight of the courage of “Muslim Hero” who was seen jumping out of the fence to save the holy book from being desecrated.

Soon after the anti-Islam rally turned violent, local police reached the scene and arrested Thorsen and his attackers.

The man, who is now a social media sensation was being called Ilyas. However, his exact identity could not be ascertained.

Marking the courage and bravery of the young man #ilyas_Hero_of_Muslim_Ummah, #Norway, #Defender_of_Quran, #TheGloriousQuran and Muslims started trending on Twitter in Pakistan.

People took to social media to pay homage to Ilyas and also raise alarm over the rising Islamophobia in Europe and around the world.

Meanwhile, Pakistan strongly condemned the attempt by an extreme right-wing group to burn the Holy Quran in a recent demonstration in Kristiansand, Norway.

“We respect all the religions and expect others to respect ours,” Mohammad Faisal Khan, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office, said in a statement.
