#Battagram: SSG commandos rescue 4 children, operation continues by alternative means

More than 10 hours after the incident, the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) rescued four children among the eight people who have been dangling in a chairlift mid-air.

The children, who were on their way to school and met with the dreadful accident, were airlifted by a helicopter in a sling operation.

According to sources, the rescue operation being carried out via helicopters has been suspended due to darkness and the windy weather.

While efforts are being carried out to save the remaining people on the chirlift by alternative means.

According to the news souce, another cable car of a  smaller in size has been hung on the same cable to retrieve the remaining students and a teacher.

The cable wire broke in Allai Tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Battagram district on early Tuesday morning leaving the eight people including six students stranded in the chairlift.

After damage and risk assessment, the rescue operation was kicked off with the support of SSG commandos

This is a joint rescue operation conducted by Army aviation and Pak Air Force helicopters

The cable car is dangling in the middle of a deep ravine surrounded by towering mountains and a rocky surface, along with the Jhangri River beneath it.

It’s now a race against time after the sunset and rain forecast in the area.
