Submarine cable fault disrupts internet services across Pakistan

Internet users across Pakistan faced difficulties in accessing online services as an international submarine cable developed a technical fault on Tuesday. According to the PTA, some fault in international submarine cables at around 5 pm on Tuesday.

An alert in this regard has been issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on social media, saying their teams are working on fully restoring internet services.

In a tweet, PTCL wrote, “We regret to inform you that due to international submarine cable fault, internet services are impacted across Pakistan.

Our technical teams are working on fully restoring internet services. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.”

Similarly,  (PTA) also took to social media assuring the internet users that the quality of browsing would soon be restored to its fullest as PTCL is working with an international consortium to rectify the fault.

In a tweet, PTA wrote, “Due to some fault in international submarine cables at around 5 pm today, users can face some problems in internet browsing quality. PTCL is working with international consortiums to rectify the fault and to determine the cause and exact location of the fault occurred.

 

The underwater cable fault also affected Pakistan International Airline t(PIA) online check-in systems which went down across the country. PIA informed about the system glitch over the social media.

The national flag carrier in a tweet, said, “PTCL network is down due to damage to their underground cables causing an outage of PIA Check-In systems across the country. We’re moving to backup systems and manual processes. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to the resulting delays”.
