10 including 8 cops martyred, 29 others injured in a suicide attack at a police station in Swat

The incident occurred in Swat’s Kabal area when an explosion, presumably caused by a suicide bomb, ripped through the station.

10 people including 8 cops have been martyred and 29 others injured in a suicide attack at a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Swat’s Kabal area on Monday.

The initial information suggests that the blast occurred around 8:20 pm inside the police station premises which also housed the Counter Terrorism Department and a mosque.

According to District Police Officer Shafi Ullah Gandapur (DPO), there were two blasts inside the station, that led to the building collapse.

CTD DIG Khalid Sohail added that the building’s collapse caused a power outage.

While the extent of the incident is yet to be determined.

According to the police, the injured were rushed to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital. Meanwhile, an emergency was declared at all nearby hospitals.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan said that the security officials were on “high alert” throughout the province.
