Terrorists strike in Nushki: 9 labourers shot dead after being abducted from passenger bus

Unknown assailants gunned down at least 11 people in two separate terror incidents in Nushki district of Balochistan.

As reported, the gunmen abducted nine passengers from a bus by checking their identity cards and fled towards the nearby mountains. Later, the abductees were shot dead and dumped their bodies near a bridge.

Nine of the killed labourers, who belonged to Punjab, were travelling in a bus on the National Highway from Quetta to Taftan when the unknown militants stopped them, pulled out of the bus and abducted them.

Their bodies were found under the bridge near a hill after the police launched a search operation.

According to the police, six of the nine labourers belonged to Mandi Bahauddin and were from the same village, Chak Fateh Shah.

Their family members said that the men had left for Iraq three days before Eid.

In a separate incident, two people were gunned down while three others sustained injuries, according to the police.

According to the Nushki Deputy Commissioner Habibullah Musakhel, over a dozen militants blocked the Quetta-Nushki-Taftan N-40 National Highway at the hilly point of Sultan Chadhai, which is around 1 kilometre away from Nushki, on Friday night.

DC Musakhel said that after blocking the highway, the armed men started checking the vehicles and opened fire on a vehicle that did not stop, killing one of the men who was a relative of the member provincial assembly.

As reported, the brother of MPA Ghulam Dastgir Badini was among the injured.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the horrible incident of the killing of passengers of a bus after their kidnapping on the National Highway 40 in District Noshki, Balochistan.

Seeking a report into the incident, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that they shared the grief of the bereaved families and resolved that the culprits and their facilitators involved in the incident would be given exemplary punishment.

The spectre of terrorism would be rooted out, the PM reiterated.
