The Toshakhana case hearing has been fixed for July 12!
The development comes as a district and sessions court on Saturday upheld the maintainability of the Toshakhana case against the former prime minister Imran Khan.
An Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ), Islamabad, Humayun Dilawar, announced the reserved verdict, setting the hearing date.
The witnesses have also been summoned on the same day, July 12.
The court heard the PTI chief’s plea challenging the maintainability of the said complaint sent to the trial court by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The case accused the ex-PM of concealing details of state gifts.
Earlier today, PTI Chairman Imran Khan sought an exemption from attending the hearing, which was objected to by ECP counsel Saad Hasan.
The lawyer of the election commission — a party in the case — said before the court that the PTI chief has been seeking exemptions from hearing and using “delaying” tactics.
“His arguments have already been presented by his legal counsel,” the lawyer said.
The judge noted that the IHC has granted such a “big relief” to the PTI chief.
At this, Imran Khan’s lawyer Gohar Khan said the high court did not provide relief; instead, it sent the matter back to the trial court for re-examination.
“And I don’t agree with this,” he said.
The lawyer further added that there was still time, and the court should give its decision in due time. The judge then rejected the plea to adjourn the hearing till Monday.
