Emerging Teams Cup: Mohsin, Rohail hand Pakistan an easy win over Afghanistan

Pakistan Emerging Team was off to an excellent start in the Emerging Teams Cup with an eight-wicket win over Afghanistan Emerging Team. Muhammad Mohsin Khan set up the victory by picking up four wickets as Pakistani bowlers bowled out the Afghans for a paltry 138. The batsmen led by Rohail Nazir made light work of the chase reaching the target in 35 overs for the loss of two wickets only.

Afghanistani skipper Samiullah Shinwari won the toss and elected to bat against what looked like a formidable Pakistani bowling line up. Afghan batsmen would have prepared to face Akif Javed, Mohammad Hasnain, Amad Butt and Umer Khan. However, it was the newcomer, Muhammad Mohsin Khan who was the star of the match. Picking up two middle and late order wickets, he broke the back of the batting side. Amad Butt and Khushdil Shah picked up a brace each, with Karachi King’s Umer Khan getting the other wicket. Mohammad Hasnain, though wicketless, went for just 8 runs in five overs. For the Afghans, only Munir Ahmad could put up some resistance with 41.
