ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Captains’ Day; No pressure on us, says Babar Azam

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, traveled from Hyderabad, to Ahmedabad for the ICC Captain's Day

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Captains’ Day was held in Ahmedabad on Wednesday on Wednesday a day ahead of the start of the tournament.

The Captain Day media event of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, having all the ten captains of the participating teams of the event.

The participating captains included Rohit Sharma from India, Pat Cummins from Australia, Jos Buttler from England, Kane Williamson from New Zealand, Babar Azam from Pakistan, Dasun Shanaka from Sri Lanka, Temba Bavuma from South Africa, Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh, Hashmatullah Shahidi from Afghanistan, and Scott Edwards from the Netherlands.

 

Babar Azam speaking at the ICC Captains Meeting ahead of the much anticipated cricketing event, said, “We didn’t feel like we were in India at all. We felt like we were in our own country. We weren’t expecting such a great reception. We got a great reception in Hyderabad. Will give 100 percent in the cup and have worked hard for it.

Babar added, “No pressure on us, the conditions in India are similar to Pakistan but boundaries are a bit shorter here. We have got a very warm reception in India, there are home feelings for us. We are excited to play against India here.”

As reported, 30 questions have been asked by journalists in the ICC World Cup Captain’s Round Table.

However, 16 were regarding Babar Azam and Pakistan.

Responding to a question, Babar Azam said, “Our bowling is our strength” Hopefully we will get our bowling momentum back.”

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam reached Ahmedabad by a special flight from Hyderabad to participate in World Cup Captains Day.

The captains of Afghanistan and the Netherlands were first called on the stage in the Captain’s Day ceremony.

The captain of the Afghan cricket team, Hashmatullah, said that he is not nervous and excited, he will enjoy the World Cup.

The captains of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were called together on the stage and both captains said that we are friends and not rivals.

Similarly, the captains of South Africa and Australia were called on the stage together.

Australian captain Pete Cummins said that he is looking forward to the World Cup, there are a lot of cricket fans in India and there is noise, while South African captain Timba Bavuma said that he has experience playing in India.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and host Indian captain Rohit Sharma came on stage together.

Pakistan cricket team is present in Hyderabad where the national team will play its first match against the Netherlands on October 6.

The second match of the Pakistan cricket team is also scheduled in Hyderabad on October 10 against Sri Lanka.
