Despite being unfairly villainized, detained and deported, and banned from many tournaments, Novak Djokovic has set all of the biggest records in tennis.
Sunday evening saw the Serbian tennis star winning the French Open final, his record 23rd grand slam title!
Djokovic finally surpassed his great rivals in the most significant category of all as he defeated Casper Ruud 7-6 (1), 6-3, 7-5 to clinch his 23rd grand slam title at Roland Garros.
Djokovic, 36, is the fourth-oldest Men’s Singles Grand Slam winner – the oldest at the French Open – only younger than Ken Rosewall (1971 and 1972 Australian Open) and Roger Federer (2018 Australian Open).
He has become the first player in the Open Era with at least three Men’s Singles tournament victories at each of the four Grand Slams.
Djokovic’s 23 Grand Slams include 10 at the Australian Open, seven at Wimbledon, three at the US Open, and now three at the French Open after previous victories at Roland Garros in 2016 and 2021.
Tonight’s victory was Novak Djokovic’s 94th tournament victory at the ATP level, equalling Ivan Lendl for the third-most in the Open Era.
He will also return to No. 1 for a record-extending 388th week.
