Pak vs Ind Super-4 clash kicks off under the clouds; Babar Azam opts to bowl first

Who do you think will win today's Asia Cup match?

Pakistan vs. India Asia Cup 2023 Super-4 clash kicks off in Colombo, Sri Lanka under the clouds on Sunday.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam announced his plan to bowl first after winning the toss, while Indian captain Rohit Sharma said they would have batted anyway.

The much-anticipated match started at 3 pm local time (2:30 PST), and there is a 90% likelihood of thunderstorms, which will abate by 4 pm (3:30 PST).

The previous match of the arch-rivals in the ongoing Asia Cup was washed out due to rain in Pallekele. Batting first, India was dismissed for 266 in 48.5 overs.

Pakistan — currently at the top of the points table — could not begin their chase because of the weather as the match was declared suspended.

Meanwhile, India are playing their first match in the Super 4 stage.

If the rain interrupts the match later in the day, the match will move on to Monday, Sep 11.

“We will bowl first. I think there is a bit of moisture, we need to use that. Always, India-Pakistan is high intensity, but we will take it match to match. As a team, we are playing well, we are focused on this one,” Pakistan captain Babar Azam said after winning the toss.

“Looking to bat first. There will be a challenge upfront, but the way we guys batted last time around gives us confidence. Every game is important for us, but one thing at a time to focus on,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
