Sana Mir Vows to Make Things Better for Youngsters

Former captain Pakistan women’s cricket team Sana Mir recently made Pakistan proud as she received Asia Society’s Game Changer award in New York. The cricket star is now back in Pakistan and shared her emotions over the achievement.

“The award is huge for me because this goes beyond Pakistan. My journey has been very long but it was not my own,” said Sana while talking to The News.

The former skipper added that she dedicates the award to players, PCB and ground staff for enabling her for this award.

“In this journey, I have been accompanied by PCB, team players, coaches and ground staff. That’s why I think it’s not my only award — it’s everyone’s award,” said Sana.

While reflecting back on her journey, Sana vowed that she’ll now try and make things better for youngsters because that’s how major teams of the cricket world thrive.

“Now I will try to make the path easier for the newcomers so that they can avoid the difficulties that we had encountered. We are in always pitching in ideas to the PCB and make suggests as to how they can improve,” said the 33-year old cricketer.

On being asked why Sana thinks she won the award despite the nominees being strong contenders, the cricket star attributed her success to her activism and philanthropic work.
