WWE founder Vince McMahon resigned on Saturday after sexual assault and trafficking allegations!
McMahon has resigned from his role as executive chairman of TKO Group, the parent company of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) he founded, following a lawsuit that accused him of disturbing allegations of sexual assault, trafficking and physical abuse.
The development comes after a former employee filed a lawsuit accusing McMahon and another executive of sexual assault, trafficking and emotional abuse.
A close friend of Donald Trump, McMahon denied the allegations in a statement announcing his resignation from the board of the TKO Group, which also controls the mixed martial arts brand Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations and look forward to clearing my name,” McMahon said.
As reported a former WWE employee identified as Janel Grant, filed a lawsuit on Thursday in a Connecticut court against McMahon and John Laurinaitis, the former head of talent relations, on grounds of emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking.
The former WWE employee has claimed that McMahon forced her into a “sexual relationship,” sharing explicit pictures and videos of her with male coworkers, and subjected her to “increasingly depraved sexual demands”.
