In a new travel advisory, the air travellers have been warned against carrying Chalia to Turkiye.
As under the Turkish law, Chalia falls under category of narcotics!
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Monday issued a travel advisory, warning people who plan to travel to Turkiye about carrying areca nut – commonly known as betel nut or Chalia in Urdu.
“Areca nuts commonly known as ‘chalia’ is banned in Turkey as it is considered drugs/narcotics under their law. Carrying areca seeds/chalia to Turkey would be a violation of their law and could invite jail sentence,” CAA said in a tweet posting a copy of the notification.
As reported, there are at least 15 other Pakistanis imprisoned for carrying Chalia to Turkiye.
