Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Aamir Khan whose visiting Pakistan for Imran’s oath taking ceremony?

It is reported to be 11th August, when PTI chairman Imran Khan will be taking oath as the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. For oath taking ceremony various celebrities are being reported to have been invited that include stars from the cricket world as well.  There are reports that former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Navjot Singh Sidhu along with Bollywood star Aamir Khan have been invited for the oath taking ceremony.


Though the PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, has said on Twitter that they would take the decision on whether foreign dignitaries will be invited after consulting with the Pakistan Foreign Office.

Fawad Chudhry tweeted saying, “Media speculations about international dignitaries attending PM oath ceremony are not correct. We have sought the advice of Foreign Office on the matter and will decide accordingly #PTI”. He also retweeted an Indian daily’s tweet making confirmation about the invitations being sent to Indian cricketers.

According to Indian media Navjot Singh Sidhu has already accepted the invitation, calling Imran Khan “a man of character”. While talking to media Mr Sidhu, also a cricketer-turned-politician like Imran Khan, said, “It is a great honour and I accept the invitation. Men of genius are admired; men of power are feared but men of character are trusted. Khan Sahab is a man of character. He can be trusted”.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has turned down the question of visiting Pakistan. When asked about the invite for Imran Khan’s oath taking ceremony, Aamir Khan answered, “No, I am not going to Pakistan and I haven’t received an invitation for Imran Khan’s swearing in ceremony.”
