Arfa Karim, a brilliant soul and a talented youth. Karim became Pakistan’s youngest became Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), at the age of 9, in 2004. At the age of 10, Arfa Karim moved on to earning a pilot’s license for herself. Although Arfa held on to the title of being the youngest MCP in Pakistan till 2008, the computer prodigy represented Pakistan on a number of international forums including the TechEd Developers Conference.
Arfa Karim had a number of prizes and accolades to her name, the most prestigious being the Pride of Performance award. At the ripe age of 16, Arfa Karim suffered a cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure that damaged her brain. Although Bill Gates had set up a team of specialists from the USA to head Arfa’s treatment here in Pakistan, she died at a hospital in Lahore on 14 January 2012, aged 16.
Today, 14th January 2019, marks Arfa Karim’s 7th death anniversary and the nation is remembering the genius child and computer prodigy with a heart of gold.
