Are Steve Smith & Camron Bencroft victim of David Warner’s much discussed behavior?

Part of me is sad. If you take apart of the sheen (well, money) these are three human beings performing at the pinnacle of their industry. This will stick with them for the rest of their lives, and beyond that. Somehow it feels wrong. For Cameron Bancroft at least. At the start of his career, where his position isn’t secure, he does an act to perhaps get in the ‘good books’ of the captain and vice captain. Its always best to in their side, to look like you are a team man, and willing to take whatever step it takes to win. Then there is Steve Smith, the run machine who defies batting logic. There is a video of him being escorted by police at the Airport, it makes you feel for him. And then there is David Warner. Sympathy for him somehow wears thin. Sentiment in some sections of the crowd is, he had it coming for years.

If head budding the line was an Australian idea, Warner was the lead orchestra artist there. He was at the forefront of that Australian dream, of tough hard men. Hard as nails. Ironically, this was the last nail in the Warner captaincy coffin. Asad Shafiq, whose last controversy was when he semi winked at a girl in grade 9 (pun), was sledged by Warner, for no reason whatsoever. Shafiq had a clever way to deflecting it. Johnatan Trott, was so measured in his response to this ban. If was simply reflective of how he felt about Warner’s behaviour in that series which robbed Trott of a wonderful international career. ‘Bye David’ is representative of how a lot cricketing fraternity feels about Mr Warner.

I kind of see this in the larger scheme of things, not just ball tampering. When Ben Stokes offers colorful language to a 41 year old, and perhaps one of the most gentlemanly figures of World Cricket, it reflective of his unsure of his bowling Stokes is. There are multiple other incident, you know them well. It is being said that Stokes came to the aid of a gay couple. There is no way to be certain, but in my mind at least, this was some sort of Karma catching up. Life is generally pathetically unfair and takes absolutely too long to catch. Part of me is a sombre & sad as cricket has lost some outstanding talent, but there is some part of me which thinks, such incident can be some form of reality check.
