Nitin Desai, art director for many super hit Bollywood movies, commits suicide

The news has sent shockwaves across the Indian entertainment industry.

Nitin Desai, art director for many super hit Bollywood movies, committed suicide!

Renowned Indian art director Nitin Desai was found dead at his studio in Maharashtra, India, on Wednesday.

Noted art director committed suicide by hanging him in his 52-acre ND Film Studio at Karjat, situated at 2-hour drive from Mumbai.

He won National Award 4 times & Filmfare Award thrice for Art Direction.

Desai’s death was allegedly because of the financial crisis.

Now, fresh details in the case have been revealed.

He had defaulted on a loan of Rs2.52 billion (around Dh112 million) loan, according to Indian media reports.

Desai had worked as an art director and production designer for a number of Bollywood films and television shows.

He was known for his work in films like Jodha Akbar, Devdas, Lagaan, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo among others.

Local MLA from Karjat, Mahesh Baldi BJP confirmed that Nitin Desai died by suicide due to financial crisis.

“When we met a month ago, he told me that he was under financial stress. Prima facie this seems like the only reason for his death by suicide,” Baldi told the news agency ANI.

“He had told me that new movies were coming his way, but it looked like only TV shows were being shot at ND Studios, which may not have strengthened his condition,” the MLA added.

The news has sent shockwaves across the Indian entertainment industry.
