Former senior royal family members Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who earlier announced to settle in Vancouver Island, Canada have now changed plans as they recently moved to Meghan’s hometown Los Angeles. The move, no wonder surprising, has not been really welcomed by the POTUS Donald Trump who has had a bitter history with the couple.
Taking it to Twitter, Trump announced that the royal couple would not be getting state-sponsored security as is the norm in the case of other royal family members and British diplomats.
“I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the US however, the US will not pay for their security protection. They must pay,” tweeted POTUS.
As per a treaty signed between longterm allies US and UK, members of the royal family and state diplomats are given security by the host country. However, after losing the royal status – and that too on some bitter notes – Harry has deprived himself of the protocol. Meghan, on the other hand, may not be overwhelmed with Trump’s decision as she’s a US citizen and has grown up in L.A where she recently moved back.
