Second Edition of Sindh Livestock Expo 21’ concludes on a high note

Sindh Livestock Expo 21!!

The second Sindh Livestock Expo 21 concluded on March 15th, 2021 in Hyderabad Sindh, after three days. Minister of Livestock & Fisheries, Mr. Abdul Bari Pittafi, and Secretary of Livestock & Fisheries, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar led the design and execution of the Expo to great success.

The Honorable Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Livestock and Dairy, Punjab, Mr. Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Information Sindh, Sharjeel Memon, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Secretary Livestock & Fisheries Kazi Aijaz Mahesar, Commissioner Hyderabad and Sharjeel Kharal, DIG, Consul General Thailand, Mr. Thattree and other senior officers of the Government were attendees and presided over different days of this Expo. They recognized and appreciated the opportunity, the Sindh Livestock Expo 2021, provided in showcasing the potential of the industry and its contribution towards food security, rural development, employment generation, poverty alleviation, and in the country’s economy, along with foreign exchange earnings. The livestock and fisheries economy is larger than the agriculture crops combined.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Pittafi shared the Government’s vision to increase livestock by 7% to 8% by 2030 and stressed the importance of using modern-day techniques for processing and exporting for growth in the sector and meeting the food security needs.

The Expo was held to provide a platform for gaining knowledge of new practices and technology, accessing opportunities and building partnerships for the growth of the Sindh livestock and fisheries sector. The key highlights of the Expo included a display of different breeds from livestock to birds and fisheries including various exotic animals such as Bison. The interactions and activities over the three days, highlighted the role of the expo in catering to the needs of the livestock sector in the province. The Expo allowed the sector to enhance its outreach to all corners of Pakistan and encouraged patrons as well as new members to be a part of it and share their knowledge for a better and prosperous nation.

Indeed, the role and objectives of the Livestock & Fisheries Department are manifested to support the livestock development in a policy environment that enables farmers to realise the dividends of livestock farming by smartly deploying public investments in core public goods & inducing private capital/initiative in the sector for poverty alleviation, food security & generation of exportable surpluses.
