Keeping up with her persona of being a true feminist and calling out sexism wherever needed, without a hint of doubt, Natalie Portman once again stood out of the lot at the Oscars 2020 red carpet. Honoring all the female directors, who truly deserved an Oscars nomination and fell victim to misogyny, Portman’s dress for the event is going viral.
Natalie graced the event with a black and gold Dior gown accompanied by a beautiful black cape. Aesthetically pleasing, the gown might have won hearts on its own but the cape was what made everyone’s jaws drop. Embroidered on the cape were names of the directors whom Oscars missed to mention, but Natalie did not.
Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Mati Diop (Atlantics), Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim), Alma Har’el (Honey Boy), Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers) and Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) were the names embroidered on the 38-year old starlet’s cape as she walked down the red carpet with full glory.
“I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year, in my subtle way,” said Natalie who has earlier too made it to news for calling out sexism in Hollywood.
