Halloween Kills’s first reviews indicate ‘darker, meaner, disturbing’ sequel

Halloween Kills’s first reviews indicate a ‘darker, meaner, disturbing’ sequel!

The Jamie Lee Curtis starrer film made its debut on Wednesday at the Venice International Film Festival.

The initial reactions appearing from the critics seem to be divided.

According to Collider’s Rafael Motomayor, “#HalloweenKills is a darker, meaner, more disturbing entry in the franchise. The kills are absolutely brutal and shocking in the best way. It was great seeing old characters again, and there is a flashback that blew my mind. Sadly, this is 100% half a film, and it ends abru.”

Meanwhile, critic Ben Rolph called the film”one of the most brutal films ever made,”

“#HalloweenKills is absolutely gnarly, it takes 2018’s violence up to a whole new level. It might be one of the most brutal films ever made? Naturally, it’s very entertaining, while having something to say. It’s also quite refreshing as it takes some surprising turns in its story,” he tweeted.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s David Rooney has called the film a “latex ghoul mask so stretched and shapeless it no longer fits” that plays as wafer-thin as “exactly the kind of witless, worthless sequel that bled the franchise dry in the 1980s and ’90s.”

The film will release in theaters and on Peacock on October 15.

Well interestingly, here is how others react to the critics’ reviews:
