Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan has published its 2019 list of 500 Most Influential Muslims around the world, and quite a handful of Pakistanis have made it to the prestigious list.
Amongst Pakistanis, top of the list is Prime Minister Imran Khan who stands tall at number 29. Following PM’s suit is Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil and renowned IT expert Dr. Umer Saif.
“Among the top 50, ranked at 29 is PM Imran, whose crackdown on corruption and bringing accountability to the forefront has fast made him a global name,” said the list about the premier.
“His other contributions include Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre and NUML University, which provides scholarship assistance to over 90 percent of its students,” it further stated.
Other Pakistanis that have made it to the list include philanthropist Bilquis Edhi, scholar Javed Ghamdi, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, motivational speaker Muniba Mazari, singer Abida Parveen and director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy amongst others.
From around the world, Liverpool footballer Mohammad Salah, Dr. Atta Rehman, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman are also a part of the extensive list. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stands at the top of the list of 500 Most Influential Muslims.
