At least 19 people killed as heavy rains lash parts of KP and Punjab

Over 60 people injured as torrential rain batters KP’s Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak: Rescue 1122

At least 19 people were killed and dozens injured as heavy rains lash parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab on Saturday.

Rain and hails with stormy winds caused havoc leaving roofs, and walls to collapse and other incidents killed more than 19 people including women and children.

Heavy rains and strong winds also disrupted electricity supply in many areas.

Heavy rain with thunderstorms was also reported from Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Nakyal city and its suburbs.

The most destruction happened in the Bannu region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 5 people, including three children, died, while 73 people were injured in separate accidents.

In Lakki Marwat, two children and a woman were killed by the stormy winds while around 73 people are reported to be injured and are being given medical aid.

3 children have died due to the collapse of a wall in the Sirak Banda area of Kirk, two of them are siblings.

Apart from this, a young man has also lost his life due to a lightning strike in Shubli Banda, and a woman was injured due to a roof collapse in the Kadi Saidal area of Tank and has been shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

In Punjab, heavy rains along with strong winds battered several parts including Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and other districts.

In Chan village, Khushab district of the province, three girls died after a wall of their house collapsed due to torrential rains.

At least 10 people were injured in rain-related incidents in Gujranwala district.
