The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the sentence of former premier Nawaz Sharif for eight weeks in the Al Azizia case on medical grounds on Tuesday.
A two-member judge bench comprising of Justice Amir Farooq and Mohsin Akhtar Kayani had earlier reserved the verdict on the plea seeking the suspension of the former premiers sentence in the case.
The former premier had been granted bail till Tuesday in the same case by the court on Saturday.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also appeared before the court during the hearing and presented a report regarding the health of the former prime minister.
Buzdar told the IHC that the former premier trusts the medical care being provided to him. He further added that the Nawaz Sharif was under treatment at the hospital and they will take care of him.
A plea for bail had been filed by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif for his brother Nawaz.
