In Pictures: Muslims offer Eid prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem

Muslims prayed at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem for Eid al-Fitr despite Israeli restrictions on who could enter.

Thousands of Palestinians offer Eid al-Fitr prayers at AlAqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday.

This year, the atmosphere across the Gaza Strip and West Bank was subdued and not festive amid Israel’s continued offensive.

People continue to mourn the victims of Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that more than 60,000 faithful offered prayers to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Israel has restricted Palestinians’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque which was occupied during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.

Palestinians’ access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been restricted amid growing tensions across the occupied West Bank due to the Israeli army’s ongoing offensive on Gaza.

Large contingents of Israeli police officers were deployed at the entrances, surrounding areas and alleys of the city.

As Israeli police barred some people from entering the compound, they prayed instead at the mosque’s outer gates.
