Indian military helicopter with Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat on board crashes in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

Indian Air Force Mi-17V5 helicopter met with the accident near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. 

Many senior defence officials were on board the helicopter.

As being reported, the Indian Chief of Defence Staff was on his way to the Defence Staff College in Wellington.

Official sources said all the injured people on board the Mi-17V5 helicopter were evacuated from the spot of the accident.

The IAF said a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the accident.

CDS Bipin Rawat has been taken to a military hospital according to Indian media and is reported to be in critical condition.
