Jinnah Park inaugurated at Winnipeg, Canada

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada, Tariq Azim Khan, inaugurated the first ever Muhammad Ali Jinnah Park at Winnipeg, Canada on 13th May 2018, where hundreds of local Canadians enthusiastically attended the ceremony.

According to the High Commissioner, much of the credit of this inauguration goes to the vibrant Pakistani-Canadian community residing in Manitoba, Canada for putting in efforts in naming the first ever Public Park in a North American country, after the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.  He further added that this a proud moment for all of us local and internal Pakistanis to cherish and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our founding Pakistan to attain Pakistan back in 1947.

While praising the Pakistani-Canadian community, Tariq Azam said that this community in Winnipeg is promoting the true, soft and warm image of Pakistani culture among Canada, which acts the bridge in promoting and understanding Pakistan among other communities of the world.

Dr. Rashid Bahri, who led the campaign for Jinnah Park as the community leader said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah is forever in the hearts of Pakistani people and this park will serve as a reminder to their future generations about the great founder of Pakistan.

According to the Masroor Khan, president of PSA (Pakistani Students Association) Manitoba, this inauguration marked the day as a historic day for all the Pakistanis in Canada and to name the first ever public park in Manitoba, after Jinnah shows just show much affection we all hold for our founding father.

Furthermore, Iqra khalid and Terry Duguig stepped in and further congratulated and praised the efforts of the Pakistani-Canadian community for achieving this milestone. The City Counselor, Janice Luke, told  the news that he was more than delighted to work with the Pakistani community in their campaign to name the park after Muhammad Ali Jinnah and to aim to make this park a worthwhile place for families to get together and enjoy and to also hold peaceful cultural galas in the park.
