Karachi is likely to receive the first spell of monsoon rains from 7 July, Friday.
The metropolis has been witnessing sweltering hot and humid weather for almost a week.
The city will see isolated light to moderate rains from July 7 to 8, while some areas will witness heavy downpours on July 9.
Furthermore, the winds under the monsoon system — currently present over India — are likely to enter Sindh on the night of July 6 or the morning of July 7.
According to meteorologist Jawad Memon, the first rain spell is expected to continue till July 11.
“Currently, a [monsoon] low pressure lies over the Bay of Bengal,” he said.
“Karachi is likely to receive showers from July 9-11 if the low-pressure area moves towards Gujarat,” he added.
“There is no chance of rain in Karachi, for now,” he added.
The weatherman predicts that the port city is likely to receive 30 to 40 millimeters of rain during the span.
