Karachi Reports Six New Locally Transmitted Coronavirus Cases

Earlier last week Murad Ali Shah led the Sindh government had imposed a strict lockdown in the province and particularly its metropolitan Karachi after locally transmitted cases of Coronavirus were seen to be surging. However, as a futile situation in return, Karachi reported six new locally transmitted cases of the virus on Monday, taking the tally to 177 in the province that holds a total of 508 confirmed Coronavirus patients.

While most of the patients in Sindh are those who arrived from Iran via the Taftan quarantine center, the authorities find the rising numbers alarming in terms of local transmission of novel corona virus. Albeit that a strict lockdown is in place by the provincial government, it is saddening to see social distancing and self-isolation not being fully adopted by the public.

Sindh also reported two more deaths in the province on Monday, both of whom occurred in Karachi. The province’s total number of Coronavirus deaths now stands at five, as confirmed by Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Azra Pechuho. Pakistan as of Monday, March 30 has 1,664 people infected by Coronavirus that has claimed 21 lives in the country.
