Karachi’s water supply from Hub Dam is to remain suspended for two days and citizens are advised to store water and use it wisely.
On Friday, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) announced an interruption in water supply from the Hub Dam on Saturday and Sunday (February 24 and 25) due to K-Electric’s maintenance work at one of its gird stations.
“The maintenance work will be carried out on the Valika Grid Station for electricity on February 24 and 25,” the KW&SC said in a statement.
The maintenance work will start at 8 am on February 24 and continue until 6 pm the next day — the overall duration of the shutdown will be 48 hours.
“This will result in a complete shutdown of the Valika Grid. During the maintenance work, the electricity supply to all feeder stations of the pumping station and filter plant will be completely cut off,” it added.
Amid the maintenance work on the electricity side, the city would face an overall shortage of 200 million gallons of water from the Hub Dam, KW&SC notified.
