Pakistan witnessed an alarming increase in coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours with 2,729 new positive cases and 71 deaths.
The nationwide coronavirus cases tally has surged to 435,056, while the total death count due to the deadly disease has reached 8,724.
As being reported 41,426 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours.
Further more 381,208 people have recovered from the deadly disease while 5,990,168 samples have been tested thus far.
According to data issued by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), the national positivity rate stands at 6.58% on Saturday.
The highest coronavirus prevalence has been observed in Karachi at a COVID-19 positivity rate of 20.88%, followed by Peshawar at 15.05% and Muzaffarabad at 11.20%.
Punjab has recorded 36 more deaths from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and recorded 629 new cases of the virus, taking the provincial tally to 126,526.
The province’s death toll has reached 3,320, the highest in Pakistan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 232 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the government’s Coronavirus portal.
Meanwhile, Balochistan has recorded 46 new infections, taking the tally to 17,696.
While the federal capital reported 286 cases and 5 deaths, Gilgit Baltistan reported 5 cases, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported 42 cases and 2 COVID-19 deaths.
