Pervez Musharraf heartfelt letter to son goes viral

Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s son Bilal Musharraf on Tuesday shared an emotional letter that his father had penned for him back in 1994.

According to the details, the former president Musharraf in the letter gave career advice to Bilal when he secured his first job. The post on Bilal Musharraf’s Twitter account has been deleted for reasons not immediately clear.

In the letter that was written on July 18, 1994, when Pervez Musharraf was posted as director-general military operations in Pakistan Army, he advised his son to maintain truth and honesty at a high standard in his work. The letter called for boldness in decision-making and avoiding anxiety too.

Bilal was asked to take quick decisions and be humble and sympathize with the needy and the helpless. The former president stressed that confidence was key in life.

Last week, a special court had sentenced Musharraf for high treason and gave him the death penalty on five counts. The court had sentenced Gen Rtd. Musharraf to death for imposing a state of emergency on November 3, 2007, adding that it had found him guilty of high treason by Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The case was heard by a 3 member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court and Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court.

In the 2-1 guilty verdict issued, Justice Nazar Akbar had disagreed from the sentence, while the other two judges found Musharraf guilty and sentenced him to death.
