Finally after a long delay, the pink bus service, aimed to provide a hassle- free and safe ride for women gets it way and has been fully launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government in Mardan.
Comprised of 10 comfortable buses, female commuters would be facilitated on many routes across the city. The fare allocated for travelling is just Rs 20.
Each bus has the capacity of 40 seats while standing travelers in the bus would also experience the comfortable and safe ride with additional safety measures including first aid box, fire extinguishers and special bus controls provided in the bus.
Children under age of 13 can also travel a safe ride in the pink bus. The service will be available from morning till 10 pm.
As revealed by the KPK officials, the pink buses were donated by the government of Japan adding that the lavish service would further expand to more cities of KPK.
An official of TransPeshawar board while praising the exclusive service for females stated that the “project is set to remove barriers by empowering them with reasonable monetary benefit.”
