SC rejects PTI chief Imran Khan’s plea seeking a stay for trial in Toshakhana Case

The apex court asks high court to hear Iman Khan's pending petitions.

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s plea seeking a stay for trial in the Toshakhana Case.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Yahya Afridi also sent the case back to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to re-examine it.

PTI chief and his legal counsel appeared before the bench.

During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), ordering it to submit its response today.

Later, ECP lawyer Amjad Parvez attended the hearing to submit the response.

After hearing arguments, the bench rejected the petition of the former prime minister.

Justice Yahya Afridi of the two-member SC bench remarked that the apex court will not interfere in the trial court’s matters in the Toshakhana case.
