After Punjab, the provincial government of Sindh has also announced the closure of educational institutions from Feb 5-9 amid general elections scheduled on Feb 8.
Meanwhile, the public and private schools, colleges and universities in Sindh will remain closed from February 5 to 9, as Feb 5 has already been announced as a public holiday on account of Kashmir Day.
The Sindh Education Department issued the notification in this regard on Thursday after the approval of the summary recommending a three-day holiday by the Chief Minister House.
A day earlier, the Punjab government announced to keep schools, colleges and universities across the province closed from February 6 to 9 in the backdrop of the general elections slated for February 8.
Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a post on X, said:
“In view of the upcoming general elections on 8th February, Provincial Cabinet has approved that all public and private sector schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab will be closed from Feb 6th to 9th.”
