The University of Karachi (KU) will award an honorary doctorate to Iranian President Raisi.
As reported, an honorary doctorate, PhD, will be awarded to Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi during his visit to Karachi on April 23 (Tuesday).
The development comes as Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who is also the Karachi University’s chancellor, requested conferring the degree on the Iranian president.
The approval of the request was given in the syndicate’s meeting on Saturday.
In a statement, UoK Vice Chancellor Khalid Iraqi said that a special ceremony will be organised to award the degree.
Governor Sindh Tessori would award the honorary doctorate to the Iranian president.
Ahead of President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit, a public holiday has been announced in Karachi on Tuesday.
According to a notification issued by the administrator. All the government and private offices, and educational institutions (public/private), will remain closed except the essential services and officials involved in emergency duties.
Furthermore, the government has also announced its decision to take one of the top hotels in Karachi, Movenpick, under its control for three days.
The hotel management has cancelled all bookings during the three days and added that all shops will remain closed.
