Amir Khan beaten by Terence Crawford after receiving a low blow

Amir Khan lost in the WBO world welterweight title fight with Terence Crowford after receiving a low blow, on Saturday.

American Terence Crawford retained his WBO welterweight title, stopping Amir Khan in the sixth round at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Khan was knocked down in the first round by Crawford and was behind on all three judges’ scorecards when the fight ended.

Crawford, who has held world titles in three weight divisions, drove a left hook into Khan’s groin 47 seconds into the sixth, leaving him in “too much” pain to continue.

Amir Khan buckled and was in obvious pain as he went over to his corner. During the injury stoppage, Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter asked his boxer if he wanted to continue and Khan said no, as he was in “too much” pain.

Briton Khan, 32, could have taken a five-minute break to regain his composure but chose not to.

Unbeaten Crawford, 31, later has accused Khan of quitting which the former two-weight world champion denied.
