Hamza Khan has won the World Junior Squash Champion title, ending Pakistan’s 37-year drought!
Sunday saw, Hamza Khan making a comeback to beat Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria to win the World Junior Championship in Melbourne.
Khan defeated his Egyptian opponent by 3-1 in the finale, with a scoreline of 10-12, 14-12, 11-3 and 11-6.
This is Pakistan’s first World Junior Squash title in nearly four decades.
Jansher Khan was the last Pakistani squash player to win the title 37 years ago in 1986.
In 1982 Sohail Qaisar from Pakistan won World Juniors beating Australian Chris Dittmar. Then in 1986, Jansher Khan won the same title for Pakistan beating Australian Rodney Eyles and now in 2023, Hamza Khan has made history. Hamza Khan’s feet add more to the glory of the country’s rich history of Squash.
