Former Test captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been appointed as PCB chief selector for the men’s squad.
Inzamam, who previously served as Pakistan’s chief selector from 2016 to 2019, fills the post that had been vacant since Haroon Rasheed quit last month.
Inzamam’s first task as the chief selector will be the announcement of a squad for Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka, which begins on August 22. It will be followed by the ODI Asia Cup.
His task will also include picking up the 2023 World Cup squad. The much-anticipated cricket tournament is set o kick off in India from October 5 to November 19.
Inzamam had named the squad for the 2019 World Cup.
During his previous tenure, Inzamam has worked with Mickey Arthur which saw Pakistan lift the 2017 Champions Trophy triumph before failing to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2019 ICC World Cup.
